Halla Ólafsdóttir and John Moström have for the past year been working on remaking the ballet “Giselle” and now invites you to join them for a three day spiritual cyberpunk ballet workshop.
Their interpretation of “Giselle” is hemmed by darkness and has an almost apocalyptic wildness where we witness the unravelling and morphing of various characters from the world of ballet. We are confronted with the hierarchies within the language of ballet: it’s
technique and pantomime, the distortion of the narrative through score making, the blurring of the roles between male and female. It is a sort of a horrific dream odyssey through the world of ballet, where there is too much of everything. Their journey has been shared with Elizabeth Ward, Amanda Apetrea and other various stars from all over the world.
Do you want to take part in remaking the ballet “Giselle”? We will do some cyberpunk warm up, you will receive your spiritual animal and then we move on to some hardcore ballet.
Free entry, come as you are in your favorite ballet outfit. No particular dancing skills needed, but bring it if you have it!
The 25th of May it is an open preview of “Giselle”. Come and join as an participant or as audience. If you want to join the cyberpunk crew come at 6 pm and if you want to watch come at 8 pm.
