During a three week residency at MDT (june and october) Tove Salmgren will be working on a dialogue with a ”man”, or “different men”. The audience will be invited to play the role of a witness of this dialogue between Tove and this “body of power”. The distribution of power will be playing a central roll in the dialogue, and revolve around the question: will the privileges in a specific performance situation serve as an equalizer between the spectators and the performer?
About artist’s residency.
The presentation will be done in a format of a performance and after there will be some time to talk about the work for those who are interested. Studio 2, free entry!
- About Tove Salmgren
Tove Salmgren lives in Stockholm and work with dance and choreography as a dancer, assistant choreographer, choreographer and dramaturge. Since 2005 Tove has worked as a dancer with Malin Elgán, in projects questioning the notion of dance and choreography, through new forms of production and distribution, for example the film “Storyboard” (2009), the performance “The Wood Piece” (2011) and the soundchoreography “Prata lite, så kollar vi” (2012). In Tove’s first soloperformance “Jazzdance” (2008) she explored her method as a dancer translated into a choreographic practice resulting in a play with the expected, at Norrlandsoperan in Umeå. During a residency at MDT she together with dancer and choreographer Stina Nyberg showed the studio work ”Handshow” (2012), an experiment with representations within the conventions of dance in a theatre space, an experiment that was focusing on the possibility to use the notion of different in a way so it would become the same.
Tove Salmgren will be studying the Master programme New Performative Practices at DOCH 2013-2015. During this time she will perform a series of residencies and presentations of which this is the first open showing.
