Radical, from Latin origin radix (root), refers to describing a person or a movement striving for thorough transformations and reforms.
What makes someone willing to go over the limit? When does it seem reasonable (or even necessary) to violate the law? Is it when we feel that we’ve been promised something, and then been let down? Is it when we lose faith in the police? Is it when we start to suspect the motives of the elected? By applying psychoanalytic models of co-dependence on the relationship between citizen and society POSTE RESTANTE aims to better understand our political feelings.
DESPERADO is an immersive performance piece about devotion, fear and hurt feelings. It is about the end that justifies the means and how limits are moved. The performance takes the form of a protection program, a discrete messenger that aims to speak to our potentials of resistance as well as urging doubts. During two hours and within safe conditions you are offered an opportunity to take a closer look at the relationship between you and society and thereafter formulate your own radical potential.
In DESPERADO contemporary political theory meet psychoanalytical models for love and devotion. The performance deals with deeply complicated questions on how trust is negotiated and what happens when it gets damaged.
”Are you afraid? Discouraged? I’m waiting outside. You will know it’s me. I’ll look ordinary. Wearing an ordinary jacket.”

- About Poste Restante
- POSTE RESTANTE is a Swedish performance company that aims to challenge a theatre tradition that establishes theatre as a mass medium and the audience as a mass by suggesting new agreements between the artwork and the visitors. POSTE RESTANTE creates immersive performances that take the form of unexpected but honest running activities. In clear and concrete ways, each visitor is invited to participate tangibly and, with maintained integrity, reflect upon complex questions. It might be a rehab centre for people that struggle with achieving ”fun” (The Economy of Pleasure, 2012) or a members club that aims to create the foundation for a new egalitarian civilization (The Leviathan Camaraderie, 2015).
Poste Restante often returns to questions concerning co-existence, conscience and collapse. The individual visitor holds the position of being the ultimate topic, the main character and final receiver. The performances do not offer any pre-maid solutions, but a space for each visitor to dwell on difficult questions and find her own solutions. Met with respect for her specific circumstances each visitor is offered an opportunity to take her emotions seriously.
