Liaisons is a choreographic work addressing our sense of sight. In piece the potential and the state of the blurred vision is explored.
Liaisons is the first performance in a new series of works that are critically reflecting on how our different senses are affected by cultural and political structures.
The work is initiated by choreographer Marie Topp in close collaboration with Julia Giertz (sound), Mårten K. Axelsson (light design), Kenneth Bruun (dance), Olivia Riviere (dance), Igor Dobricic (dramaturgy) and Axel Norén (light).

- About Marie Topp
Marie Topp is choreographer and performer based in Denmark and Sweden. She is educated in 2009 from The National School of Performing Arts in Denmark. Her works include: The Everyday Practice of Resistance (2012), Forerunning (2014), The Visible Effects of Force (2015) as well as the collective work In Between Concrete (2016) by the Copenhagen-based collective RISK. Currently she also works with Icelandic choreographer Margret Sara Gudjonsdottir. Marie Topp is currently a part of The Artistic Council at Dansehallerne, Copenhagen and member of the board of the organisation Uafhængige Scenekunstnere (Independent Performing Artists). Since 2017 she is curating the professional training at Dansehallerne. She has been invited to teach at DOCH University of Dance and Circus, Sweden, Dansalliansen Sweden and AFUK Akademiet For Utæmmet Kreativitet, Denmark. Marietopp.wordpress.com & risk.nu
- About Julia Giertz
In her current work Giertz is mapping bodily and structural responses to vibration, by drawing on music, physics and our perception of sound – a practice called Sound as Touch.
At present Giertz is collaborating with Marie Topp (DK), Sindri Runudde (SE), Lisa Nyberg (SE), Tyler Mathew Oyer (USA), Fullmånen från Helvetet (SE) amongst others. Recently her work has been presented at the Venice Biennale, Audiorama, Norberg Festival and Charlottenborg Kunsthal.
The continuation of tonight’s piece is the work SHRILL, for Notam, Oslo 2018.
Giertz is also working with Popkollo and “Vem Kan Bli Producent”, a program for music-producers and sound engineers identifying as non-binary or/and female.
- About Olivia Riviere
Olivia Riviere is a Swedish dancer and choreographer based in Copenhagen. Since her graduation from The Danish National School of Performing Arts in 2015 she has been involved in DANSEatelier, a space and a collective consisting of 11 people wanting to stand together in their relationship with dance. Their work is an ongoing research in rhizomatic structuring and togetherness, whether it is through hosting, sharing or making work. These days Olivia is busy with the matter and affect of feelings, things and sounds produced from the sliding of vocal chords; elements playing a role in her wider interest around the notion of objectification and subjectification. At the moment Olivia is taking part of the visual artists Anna Moderato and Anne Nora Fishers work ‘Zombiehånd’ as well as Anders Paulins long term project Para Nordic: A Nordic Para-Institutional Platform.
- About Kenneth Bruun
Kenneth Bruun Carlson is freelance dancer and choreographer. He is graduated from London Contemporary Dance School (2000) and the Amsterdamse Hogeshool voor de Kunsten (2003). Carlson has been a part of Dansk Danceteater(DK), The Cullberg Ballet (SE), Kenneth Kvarnström & Co/Helsinki Dance Company (FI), and Skånes Dansteater (SE). He has worked with independent choreographers such as Martin Forsberg, Helena Franzen, Shumpei Nemoto, Björn Safsten, and Rachel Tess. His choreographic works has been showed at Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Holland and England.
- About Igor Dobricic
Igor Dobricic, studied dramaturgy at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade, (former) Yugoslavia and attended Master of Theatre course at DasArts in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Between 1995, and 1999 he worked as a dramaturge for the Belgrade International Theatre festival (BITEF). From 1999 onwards he is living and working in Amsterdam. Between 2000 and 2008 he was a program officer for the arts at the European Cultural Foundation. In this role he conceived and coordinated international support platform for the arts under the name ALMOST REAL. Between January 2009 and December 2010, he was occupying a position of a research fellow with the Amsterdam School of the Arts. As a dramaturge he is working internationally, collaborating with a number of choreographers/makers (Nicole Beutler, Keren Levi, Christoph Leunberger, Guillaume Marie, Diego Gil, Christina Ciupke, Jeremy Xido, Marie Topp, Alma Sodeberg a/o)
- Mårten K. Axelsson
Mårten K. Axelsson graduated as a lighting designer from The Danish National School of Performing Arts in 2009 and has made the light for over 40 productions and set design for 6 productions. Among theaters Mårten has guested can The Royal Danish Theatre (DK), Schauspiel Frankfurt (DE), Kampnagel (DE), The Joyce Theatre (USA), Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival (USA), Aarhus Theatre (DK), Den Jyske Opera (DK), Aalborg Theatre (DK), Odense Theatre (DK), Malmö City Theatre (SE), Norrdans (SE), and Ballet Jovem Palácio das Artes (BR) be mentioned.
