”Our existing culture is a pointless barbary. It fails to provide us with any sense of meaning. It cannot keep us safe from brutality and obscenity. We are discontented and we are ashamed.” (The Leviathan Camaraderie Charter)
The Leviathan Camaraderie is an immersive performance on the hardships of coexistence and the longing for belonging. It takes the form of a secret society, a society that perceives itself as having shouldered the responsibility to lay a foundation for a new, egalitarian order, as an alternative to contemporary civilisation. It does so by deconstructing the civilisation as we know it, exorcising its lingering perversions and establishing an alternative order.
Visitors are invited to join the society as initiates, to learn the rules of the society and participate in egalitarian practice. Visitors who want a more in depth and challenging experience have the possibility to apply for full membership and take part in activities such as “Indulgence”, “Constitutional Meeting” and “The Black Out”. Memberships rules apply to all, and are installed to ensure the quality of service to its members. Once granted full membership in the Leviathan Camaraderie you are welcome to return to any of our meetings.

- Om Poste Restante
Poste Restantes creates performances in the scale of total situations where the audience is invited to get in intimate contact with complex questions and dilemmas on her own terms. The Leviathan Camaraderie is an independent part of Poste Restantes diptych exploring Freud’s essay “Civilisation and Its Discontents”. It is a performance series that combines elements from Freud with the labour movement, queer theory and club culture. It is a safe setting wherein the visitors are invited to take a closer look at their own relation to the conventions of power and desire.
Poste Restante is the artistic collaboration between Erik Berg, Linn Hilda Lamberg and Stefan Åkesson. Since 2007 Poste Restante has produced numerous large scale performances and has been presented at festivals such as Baltic Circle (FI), Santiago a Mil (CL) and Salzburger Festspiele (AT). In Poste Restante’s work the individual visitor holds the position of being the centre, the main character and final receiver. There are no fictitious backstories, no on and off stage. Poste Restante’s interests rest within the actual and the parameters of the situation at hand. The performances come in the form of unexpected but honest running activities, where the visitor is placed at the heart of an ongoing dilemma. Rather than finding solutions to these conflicts, their work legitimizes all issues and acts as a catalyst for deep reflection on difficult questions and scenarios. Information is always clear and the participation concrete. Met with respect for her specific conditions and challenges, each visitor is offered an opportunity to think complicated thoughts all way through as well as courage to take their emotions seriously.
