Residency at the store in Hörken
In 2022, five residences will be announced for professional artists in dance, choreography and performance in Hörken, Ljusnarsberg Municipality. The selected residents will use this time as an opportunity to focus on navigating, placing and planning their artistic work. The residency is not purely production based but aims to contextualize, process, clarify and deepen a long-term and sustainable practice for the selected artist(s).
You may apply with an ongoing project, or with a broader question about your artistic work and career. The residency is open to both individuals and collaborators who would benefit from a process based residency.
Five one week residences will be offered, spread out over March-September 2022. During each week, we work together through conversations and workshops. Together, we will set your future goals through vision work. Designed and structured exercises will aid in navigating the field nationally and internationally, process subject-specific challenges based on needs such as: artistic process, planning and budgeting, tour adaptation and / or grant applications.
The residence also includes one day of technical coaching with a technical coordinator, the opportunity to go on study visits in the area and the possibility of inviting an external guest with a certain expertise, based on the artist’s needs. It can be a person familiar with a certain subject, with knowledge of certain technology, communication etc.
After the end of the residency period, participants write a short reflection on the residency and carry out an evaluation.
To apply to this residency please submit a cover letter (maximum of 1 A4) wherein you describe your practice as well as a short formulation of how this residency could benefit your practice.
