- The Swedish Dance History Final Editing Day
Rome wasn’t built in a day, The Swedish Dance History episode 3 will be. Yes, we don’t give up – you got the invitation – another one is under conception and it’s a big baby – another 1000 pages in silver packaging. The procedure is the same – everybody who considers herself a dancer, choreographer or otherwise jumping around is invited to contribute with anything printable in a book. It’s democracy on some weird level – but at least a lot of it. If you didn’t write anything amazing yourself – send something you like, whoever wrote it. We are generous, and remorseless. So save the day, block it in your Google Calendar, cancel dinner with your dad, tell the boy friend to give you a f**ing break and get your well trained, released, BMC-adopted, amazing body to MDT and Skeppsholmen – get down to it and make this book legendary. This is your last chance to put your mark on the book, of putting your face, ass, dingagong or something else into the mythology of that silver bible. Or, dude, do you want us – like the Inpex crew – to be in charge of the myth. “-Don’t think so…” – no no “-Don’t think so!”
We meet at ten in the morning and do twelve hours of production, organization, interviewing, hanging out, fiddle and fix, convincing, image making, scanning, klipp och klistra – and hey we thought why not remix it with a kind of home edited julbord – (är du störd eller?). So bring it on – it’s a one off once in a lifetime, now or never, live the dream, supermodel girl-friend, Robbie Williams kind of day and we need you. And if that was not clear: during one day, 3/12, we will fill the third volume of The Swedish Dance History, and whilst we do this, we offer you something to eat and drink.
- The Swedish Dance History Episode 3
The Swedish Dance History (TSDH) is a choreography in the form of book. Initiated in 2009 by INPEX, the book is a claim from dance on dance and is to be published for 20 consecutive years. Now it is time for the third edition!
The history of dance is initiated through dance, but it is its writers that fasten it and its readers that secure it. The Swedish Dance History is dance’s claim on its own history, a history created and authorized by us who create dance and choreography. The Swedish Dance History is a collective effort to realize this history and ultimately to claim the right to our future. TSDH is an international publication written by more than 300 people from more than 50 countries and distributed for free all over the world. The first year the book was made in Stockholm during one editorial day at PUB, the second year during an open editorial weekend at ImPulsTanz.
This year we want to give more time and will take three whole months from invitation to release (time is running out we have only three weeks left), with the ambition to write all the pages from scratch, or at least to publish material that hasn’t yet been published. Use this opportunity to commission, challenge or excuse yourself or someone else to write the text that you wouldn’t have written otherwise. There are as many ways to produce the book as there are people engaged in it. Use The Swedish Dance History for your own good. What text would you want to read in the book? Invite the text to happen! What needs to be published that hasn’t yet been? Publish it! What do you need it for?
We propose to obtain ISBN numbers for this year’s edition, which means that the book becomes more official and could be reviewed as a book. We suggest that it is up to each participant in the book to decide on the use of Creative Commons license to their contributions. Otherwise the general CC will apply; Attribution-Non Commercial-Share Alike 3.0 Unported (CC BY-NC-SA 3.0)
All contributions can be sent to emmakimhagdahl@gmail.com
