- Gisèle Vienne & Peter Rehberg “Jerk, the radioplay”
“Jerk” is an imaginary reconstruction – strange, poetic, funny and somber – of the crimes perpetrated by American serial killer Dean Corll who, with the help of teenagers David Brooks and Wayne Henley, killed more than twenty boys in the state of Texas during the mid-70s.
This show sees David Brooks serving his life sentence. In prison, he learns the art of puppets, which somehow enables him to face up to his responsibility as partner in the crimes. He has written a show that reconstructs the murders committed by Dean Corll, using puppets for all the roles. He performs his show in prison for a class of psychology students from a local university.
The radio play created from “Jerk”, a short story by Dennis Cooper, points out the schizophrenic aspect of the performance of the puppeteer by presenting the experience of the show from the puppeteer’s inner perspective.
“Jerk, the radioplay”, with live music by Peter Rehberg, will be presented in collaboration with Audiorama in their specially designed acoustical room with 21 loudspeakers from floor to ceiling. Audiorama is located in the same building as MDT.
Gisele Vienne was born in 1976, she is a franco-austrian artist, choreographer and director. After graduating in Philosophy, she studied at the puppeteering school Ecole Supérieure Nationale des Arts de la Marionnette. There she met Etienne Bideau-Rey with whom she created her first shows. She works regularly with, amongst other, the writers Dennis Cooper and Catherine Robbe-Grillet, the musicians Peter Rehberg (also known as Pita) and Stephen O’Malley, the light designer Patrick Riou and the actor Jonathan Capdevielle. Since 2004, she has choreographed and directed, in collaboration with the writer Dennis Cooper, I Apologize (2004) and Une belle enfant blonde / A young, beautiful blond girl (2005), Kindertotenlieder (2007), the play Jerk (2008), This is how you will disappear (2010), LAST SPRING: A Prequel (2011) and The Pyre (2013). In 2009, she created Eternelle Idole with an ice skater and an actor and the rewriting of Showroomdummies with Etienne Bideau-Rey. In 2013 they rewrite it again for CCN-Ballet de Lorraine. Since 2005, she has been frequently exhibiting her photographs and installations : her last exhibition was 40 PORTRAITS, 2003-2008 at the Centre d’Art Contemporain in Geneva in August 2015. Her last piece titled The Ventriloquists Convention, in collaboration with Dennis Cooper and Puppentheater Halle, was premiered at Internationales Sommerfestival Kampnagel Hamburg in August 2015. The current works in progress are an exhibition at the FRAC Alsace for March 2016, an interpretation of Blue Beard’s castle of Béla Bartok for La Monnaie-De Munt in Brussels for spring 2017, and a dance project for fall 2017.
Her company is supported by le Ministère de la culture et de la communication – DRAC Alsace, la Région Alsace and la Ville de Strasbourg. The company is also supported by Institut Français for international touring. Recorded voices of Jonathan Capdevielle & Dennis Cooper. “Jerk, the radioplay” was commissioned by Frank Smith, Philippe Langlois and Danièle Rivière for the publication of the audio-book JERK / Through Their Tears by Gisèle Vienne, Dennis Cooper, Peter Rehberg and Jonathan Capdevielle (publisher DISVOIR – serie:ZagZig / 2 editions, english and french). The original French version was commissioned for the Atelier de Création Radiophonique of France Culture and broadcasted on June 17th 2007 on France Culture.)

- Alma Söderberg “Nadita”
Nadita means small nothing in Spanish and it’s also the title of Alma Söderberg’s new solo. Her body and voice serve as the instruments that produce a small nothing. Alma Söderberg works as a choreographer and performer. She makes performances where sound and movement are equally important and in her practice she is constantly re-discovering how intertwined those two are. She has made several solo performances and the duet A Talk together with Jolika Sudermann. She is a member of the performance band John The Houseband since 2008. In 2014 she made the performance Idioter together with Hendrik Willekens with whom she also started the music project wowawiwa. In 2015 she will make a new solo by the name of Nadita.

- Halla Ólafsdóttir & Amanda Apetrea “Beauty and the beast”
Is it a dance? Is it a show? Is it a play? Is it a band, a concert? Forget minimalism and everything you know about good taste. It is life and death. It is love. It’s a place were beauty meets beast in a world were everything is possible. Forget Madonna, Prince, Elvis, Beyoncé, Whitney and Britney. Halla and Amanda never needed their lastnames and now they take on the greatest mononymes in dance history and blow you away. You’ll want to lean forward and then back in your chair. You feel safe, but you know that you are part of something dangerous. They don’t do hatred and contempt, they use love as a weapon.
Forget Madonna, Prince, Elvis, Beyoncé, Whitney and Britney. Halla and Amanda never needed their last names and now they take on the greatest mononymes in dance history and blow you away.

- Ofelia Jarl Ortega “Donnie”
“Donnie” is a bastard of desire. Our own something, our own bodies attraction and destruction. Ecstasy that leads to togetherness, a lesbian continuum, basement moist and cold, (sister)hood of synthesizers, autobiographical-stories yet this is not about us, v3ry much fiction. An around-ness of already known, irrelevant and partly rough, strategic and intuitive methods to live grotesque, very cool, aesthetics.
Ofelia Jarl Ortega is a performer and choreographer. Born 1990 and raised in Malmö she is now mainly based in Stockholm after graduating the MA in choreography from DOCH in Stockholm. Ofelia works with different notions of vulnerability and femininity; with the collective as starting point, where necessity is the method and punk, drone and dark are aesthetics.

- Margret Sara Gudjónsdóttir “Spotted”
In “Spotted” the body of the performers is captured as an overflowing container. So full that it can not anymore digest, make sense or work through all the external information it receives. As well as all that seeps into it without any subjective control or awareness. Numb and leaking, on the verge of passing as still lives, the performers make us question topics that relate to us directly such as privacy, intimacy, alienation and vulnerability.
“Spotted” is a grimace of discontinuity; a glimpse of perfect individuality; a perversion where the achievers are in a state of spiritual absence; an investigation of animated objects unable to overcome their singular being; this separation or this very drive – the constituent execution or exhaustion.
The duet performance “Spotted” belongs to the “Blind Spotting Performance Series “ which includes at this point; “Blind Spotting”, a performance with an original cast of 8 dancers which premiered at the Sophiensaile theater in Berlin spring 2014, “Blind Spotting- film version”, an artistic film created from the original 8 dancers performance, the duet performance “Spotted”, and the solo performance “In the Blind Spot” which premiered in spring 2015.Margrét Sara Guðjónsdóttir was born in Reykjavík in 1978. She studied with the dance department of the HKF Art School (now artEZ Institute Of The Arts) in Arnhem and Amsterdam (NL), and graduated in 2002. She currently lives and works in Berlin. With dancer and choreographer Sveinbjörg Þórhallsdóttir, Margrét Sara co-founded the production house Panic Productions in Reykjavík (IS), which was active from 2004 – 2009, and focused on producing and initiating collaborative performance works with international artists. Margrét Sara has toured internationally with her own work since 2010.
In 2013, Margrét Sara created three commissioned works: the 20-minute “(S)trategies at the Showroom” festival of the Folkoperan in Stockholm, in collaboration with the Huutajat choir (FI), and electronic composer Peter Rehberg; “Soft Target Installed” an installation performance commissioned by Reykjavík Dance Festival; and “Step Right To It” a graduation piece for the BA Dance students of the University of Dance and Circus (DOCH) in Stockholm. In 2014, Margrét Sara was chosen as one of the Priority Companies of the cross-border dance performance network Aerowaves and was selected for the second time for the ICEHOT! Nordic Dance platform. In 2014, she created a new version of her widely-toured solo performance “Soft Target” (2010) as a commission by the Cullberg Ballet in Stockholm, titled “Targeted”.
Margrét Sara launched the first piece in the Blind Spotting Series at the Sophiensaele theater in Berlin (DE) in spring 2014. The idea behind the series was to create a body of work created from the same source and feeding off each other. The series was born from the need to create a framework where the choreographer and her collaborators would have the opportunity to work over a longer period of time on the same topic developing a physiological language appropriate to the form. The serie was worked on continuously over two years and consists of four works: Blind Spotting (2014) a performance with an original cast of 8 dancers; Blind Spotting – Film Version (2014), created from the performance with film director Antoine Verbiése; the duet Spotted (2014); and the solo performance In the Blind Spot (2015).
In 2015 Margrét Sara became artist in residence at the Cullberg Ballet in Stockholm. She teaches periodically at the dance department of the Art University of Iceland and Dance department of the University of Dance and Circus (DOCH) in Stockholm as well as at the Cullberg Ballet.
