MDT is part of the four-year EU project Life Long Burning “Futures Lost and Found (LLB3)”, running from 2023 to 2026, with support from Creative Europe. Life Long Burning has been an active network for several project rounds, and MDT has been part of the collaboration since the last round, which went under the name “Life Long Burning - Towards a sustainable Eco-System for Contemporary Dance in Europe” (2018–2022).
Life Long Burning consists of eleven partners – dance houses, festivals, choreographic centres, networks and production houses. In addition to MDT, the following partners are included: danceWEB (AT), 4Culture (RO), brain store project (BG), Divert (HR), ICI-CCN (FR), Moving in November (FI), Nomad Dance Academy Slovenia (SI), STUK (BE), Uferstudios (DE), Veem House (NL), Workshop Foundation (HR). Associerade partners är: MSU (HR), Kik Melone (HR), Contemporary Dance Platform (UA) and Arsenic (CH).
The activities within LLB consist, among other things, of co-productions, residencies, paid internships, and we have several activities taking place at MDT each year. The main coordinator for the project is danceWEB, based in Vienna, Austria. MDT’s activities include open calls and proposing artists to be invited to network activities and events.
Sara Bergsmark, associate producer working with MDT, is project manager for LLB on behalf of MDT.
MDT has been invited to two networks focused on co-production and knowledge exchange between international colleagues aiming at long-term collaborations, working with tours, co-productions, etc.
In the WEB network, the following are included: Beursschouwburg (BE); Frascati (NL); Gessnerallee (CH); Blackbox (NO); WP Zimmer (BE); Les Subsistance (FR), Uzèz Dance (FR), Tanzquartier (AT) and MDT (SE).
Be My Guest is an informal and organic network dedicated to emerging practices within performing art withBudakunstencentrum (BE), La Bellone (BE), Kaaitheater (BE), Théâtre Saint-Gervais (CH), Belluard Festival — Fribourg (CH), Parallèle (FR),
ICI-CCN — Montpellier (FR), Théâtre de la Bastille — Paris (FR), Short Theatre — Rome (IT) Materiais Diversos (PT), Tanzquartier (AT) and MDT (SE) as parts.
BRIDGES is run by Sonya Lindfors and the organisation UrbanApa and is a Nordic project funded by Kulturkontakt Nord / Nordic Culture Point with UrbanApa from Finland, CODA Oslo International Dance Festival and BIT Teatergarasjen from Norway, MDT from Sweden, Haut from Denmark and Reykjavík dance festival from Iceland among its partners. After a successful pilot of the project in 2020-2022, its second phase will take place in 2023-2024. The second phase consists in a series of seminars partner workshops, a small publication, and more.
The tour loop Tre Scener (Three Scenes) has existed since the year 2000 and is a collaboration between the three independent dance scenes Atalante (Gothenburg), Dansstationen (Malmö) and MDT (Stockholm). The aim of the collaboration is to enable non-institutional dance to tour and encounter a new audience. The tour loop Tre Scener does not operate by open calls, but by proposals to the network by Amanda Nordmark (Atalante), Tomas Persson Carlberg (Atalante), Lars Eidevall (Dansstationen) and, since 2020, Anna Efraimsson (MDT).
