The "dream beam" dream team wants to invite you to share space with them. This team is a rotating crew of super soft super tactile super duper troopers, who all possess the power to channel and re-direct force through movement; through their bodily systems they taste and digest energy. This energy transforms into specific skills, or perhaps superpowers, with which they dance, move walls, soften rooftops, re-direct lightning and many, many other things.
"dream beam" uses performance and film to explore ideas of what a superpower can be, and how one might move with that power. Inspired by Octavia Butler's 1993 novel ‘Parable of the Sower’, particularly the hyperempathy of the novel’s main character Lauren Olamina, the work (and/or works) explores how the skills we already possess can be focused, enhanced and used to manipulate the perception of both the body and of space/s we inhabit.
BamBam Frost is a dancer and choreographer based in Stockholm, Sweden. She graduated from Stockholm University of the Arts, with a bachelor of contemporary dance in 2013. In her work she has moved between the club scene, commercial work, the contemporary dancefield and art institutions. In 2018 she debuted with her piece SORRY.
SORRY (2018), SO SORRY (2019), and YES (2020) all take off from her interest in social dances and pop culture phenomena in relation to the times and contexts they arose from. In her work she insists on pleasure and fiction as a compass to imagine and shape choreographic proposals. “immortal summit” and “choreographic conversation” were created together with Lydia Östberg Diakité and both premiered in 2021.
