We in MDT are honored to be invited to the very cool international festival “Something Raw” in Amsterdam. MDT will be present with two productions that we find represent us: Quarto’s “Beauty of accident” that premiered here in 2013 and Juli Reinartz’s new show “You said you’d give to me — Soon as you were free” that we premiered in September 2016. Plus we host a symposium: "POSTDANCE/-PORN". This is directly linked to the conference we presented in 2015. This symposium is co-curated by Florentina Holzinger. Ofelia Jarl Ortega & Patrik Patsy Laserbov will show “Forever”, a work-in-progress of a new piece planned to premiere in MDT this fall.
About "Something Raw":
“The international dance and performance festival Something Raw presents raw, radical, innovative work from the new generation of choreographers and performance artists.
We present the broadest possible range of contemporary dance through a vibrant collection of styles, genres and forms. This annual festival is also a place to exchange, talk and go deep.
During this fourteenth edition, we will present eleven productions under the title ‘Unlabeled: Celebrating Collapsing Categories’. However radical the differences between these productions may seem, they all throw classical notions and the idea of separate disciplines overboard. In a time when old ideas and categories no longer correspond to reality, artists go in search of a new language. Current concepts concerning warfare, commercial imagery, gender and sexuality are subjected to rigorous questioning and challenges. The forms of theatre used push at the boundaries of other disciplines. Productions become concerts, films, personal confessions, games or installations…
Something Raw Festival is a cooperation by Frascati and Flemish Arts Centre de Brakke Grond.”
