"Of All Its Parts: From Darkness" (premiere Feb. 2020) is a choreographic work by the award-winning Danish duo two-women-machine-show, which examines the capacities of female imagination. On stage, we meet two dancers whose practice invokes a cavalcade of images, figures, stories and abstractions. Through sticking to their task the dancer’s relentless activity creates a total figure of transformation.
"Of All Its Parts: From Darkness" is an episodic work, based on a score of poetic instructions which the choreographers reinterpret each time the work is performed. All decisions for sound, set and costumes stem from the same score.
two-women-machine-show refers to the award-winning collaboration between the Danish choreographers Ida-Elisabeth Larsen and Marie-Louise Stentebjerg. Together they belong to a group of Danish choreographers, whose critical thinking and uncompromising approach to the ‘experiment’ challenges conventions and opens up new avenues for dance. Their choreographic thinking draws on a practice-based approach to theory, an in-depth experimentation with transcendental techniques as well as text-based performance.
