PARTS is a school for higher education in contemporary dance, with a full time training program. It offers an education for dancers and choreographers. The school was founded in 1995 by Rosas and De Munt/La Monnaie. Director of the school is choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker.
PARTS is an international school, with students and teachers coming from more than 20 different countries. The working language is English. The school shares its grounds with the Rosas dance company and the music ensemble Ictus.
The PARTS curriculum is divided into two independent programmes: the Training (3 years) and the Studios (2 years):
— The Training cycle is a program for young dancers and choreographers who want to become professional artists. Its aim is to develop a solid but diverse dance technique, an embodied insight into repertoire, improvisation, choreographic composition and creation, strong body-awareness and a sophisticated and informed approach to theatre, music and theory. The program does not offer separate tracks for dancers and choreographers, assuming that a dancer nowadays has to be a co-creator, and that a choreographer’s craft is rooted in the physical work in the studio, whatever form it finally takes.
— The Studios programme targets students who are holder of a bachelor in dance who want to deepen and widen their experience as a dance maker through advanced study and artistic research.
