"PULS" examines the pulse and lets it take a lead.

The pulse – the heartbeat inside us giving us life, the city alive with sound and movement, the bass drum in a house track driving the music forward – it’s how the tempo of things feel. PULS’s choreographer and composer Yared Tilahund Cederlund sees the pulse like a super power, reflecting our human capacity for feeling rhythm and timing,  making us move synchronically and in doing so allowing us to move enormous masses of weight together.

“PULS” invites you to witness some of the most accomplished and respected dancers from the Swedish street and freestyle scene: Yared Tilahun Cederlund, Maele Sabuni, Niki Tsappos, Alexander Dam Ida Holmlund and Nataşa Baykal, take to the MDT stage to explore pulse, beat, rhythm and tempo.

“PULS” is a long term project that will continue forth for several years, take shape as many versions and formats and include various dancers. It centres the deep knowledge and skills of street and freestyle dancers and works on their terms, putting them on stages and within institutions where the dominant cultures often presented are contemporary dance. The PULS premiere at MDT will be the project's first proper meeting with an audience, and should be viewed as a finished independent first work within the series. In other words, a "part 1" and the opening of the project PULS.
