A choreographed walk from the perspective of a dog
Throughout history, Skeppsholmen has been a centre for various weapons, kings, amusements and art. For centuries, it has seen strolling and trumpeting, tarring and loving. But if you lower your gaze slightly, somewhere around knee height, a real drama unfolds.
"The Gossip" traces the history of Skeppsholmen through the footsteps of the dog. By noticing the island's seemingly insignificant stories, gravel piles and pee stains, we shift our attention from the grand to the intimate. Most of the world is lickable, if you just give it a chance.
"The Gossip" was developed in Sundsvall during Summer 2020 as part of Public Art Agency Sweden's initiative on art in urban development. This new version of "The Gossip" has been reworked for Lustholmen.
"The Gossip" is choreographed and performed by Stina Nyberg and dogs from a local agility association. The walk takes about 50 minutes and dogs are welcome too.
NB: On Saturday the 10th of June at 16:00 the walk will be performed in English. All other dates and times are conducted in Swedish.
"The Gossip" is presented in collaboration with The Public Art Agency Sweden [Statens konstråd].
Stina Nyberg (b. 1981, Örnsköldsvik, Sweden) engages in the choreography of dances, conversations, meetings, texts, sounds, and shows. She regularly falls in love with new stuff and uses choreography as a means to learn more about these new objects of desire. Some of her recent love affairs have involved doom, details, dogs, electricity, gossip, men, dance history, birds, and mind-reading. She is busy crafting physical practices in relation to the world at large, currently dwelling on the simultaneous molding of, and being molded by, other humans, surroundings, and prevailing ideologies.
