The dance performance "Wiggling Things" unfolds in an artificial arctic landscape. Choreographic pendulum movements are connected to turbulent flows, vulnerable topography and barren conditions inside and outside of bodies. Temporary in-betweens are established from vanishing sites. The oscillation and swinging is put into dialogue with raging streams and a wood chipper machine—in pace with the expansion of miles wide clear-cut forest areas and mining landscapes in Sápmi and Tornedalen. The pendulum and the shakes are said to possess curative powers. Can the energy emerging from the in-between become a site to find power?

Silence spread, and someone asks: “how deep down do I own the land?”

The project has its outset in a web of solo performances and collaborative works created by Tanja Andersson between 2017 and 2021. These works have connected to each other through an examination of places, heritage as friction and circular movements spreading out through the dancing body. On the one hand, Tanja´s family are reindeer herders in Sápmi; on the other hand, they come from the forest industry and the union movement in Tornedalen. Tanja herself has grown up in the city (Umeå and Stockholm).
