- About Kajsa Sandström
Kajsa Sandström (SE) has worked professionally in Dance and Choreography since 2004. She was a student at P.A.R.T.S. from 2000-2004. Her professional career as a dancer includes work with the actor Frank Vercruyssen/Tg STAN (BE) 2005; choreographer Mette Ingvartsen (DK) 2003- 2007; and Cie Kubilai Khan Investigations (FR) 2008-2010. Since 2006, Sandström has developed her own projects initiated by artistic interests and questions, often in collaboration with artists related performance fields. By displacing her own knowledge in meeting, collision and dialogue, she finds potential to work choreographically with dance in new ways. Each new project is defined by a new set of specific practices and methods that inform the process. Material is derived from parallel processes of research and practical application of ideas. Sandström is interested in how choreography can frame and articulate ways of looking at the experience of movement, perception and bodily presence within different spaces and media. She wishes to engage with an audience by letting the material and situations combine to create openings for reflection. Recent touring: “Con/text” 2010, with Ylva Henrikson, “In the Mirror- A solo choreography in the footsteps of Maya Deren” 2009, “I need a witness to perform” 2009, in collaboration with David Bergé. In collaboration with Frédéric Alstadt the new piece “Between dog and wolf” premiered at Dansens Hus, Stockholm, March 2012.
