MDT Board of Trustees

The board is responsible for the operation of the MDT Foundation. The board also appoints the director of the theatre. The theatre director is responsible for the daily and yearly operation of MDT, including staff and economy on delegation of the board, and reports to the board for the operation of MDT.


Chairperson:

Tomas Bokstad, previously a producer and cultural bureaucrat, now working as senior advisor for Giron Sámi Teáhter and Västanå Teater and writing reports for several different organisations. 


Board members:

Chris Schenlaer. Has worked as manager mainly within Swedish and Danish performing arts. Was the Counsellor for Cultural Affairs at the Embassy of Sweden in Lithuania between 2005 and 2008. Chris is also a lecturer in lgbtq+ issues and leadership, as well as an author of multiple books and articles.

Elisabeth Lundgren. Has worked as cultural director for 25 years in Malmö and Borås, among others. Writer, investigator with several positions of trust, e.g. National Board of Riksteatern and Röda Sten Kulturförening (ordf). 


Héctor Eguía Del Río. Mexican performing artist and dramaturgist, working across boundaries within theatre, performance and art. 


Naiti del Sante. Lawyer and civil servant, as well as author of several juridical books, teaching prospective and professional lawyers. 


PeO Sander. Active since the 1970s as producer, lecturer in performing arts production (at DI, STDH, SKH) and as consultant at various organisations for performing arts. 

Stina Dahlström. Has worked in various roles supporting art and artists, mainly in the field of dance. Besides having worked as a freelancer, Stina has been a staff producer at MDT and operations manager at Cullberg.

Statutes for Moderna Dansteatern Foundation, Skeppsholmen (MDT)

This is a working document approved by the Kammarkollegiet according to decision No. 430-4820-05 dated 26 April 2004. It is based upon statutes approved by Kammarkollegiet according to decision 11 June 2001, decided by the board 6 November 2001.

§ 1

The Foundation Moderna Dansteatern Skeppsholmen (MDT), hereinafter referred to as the Foundation, aims to provide both foundational and ongoing opportunities for the development, preservation and future of the art of dance. Therefore, the Foundation should be an open theatre space for choreographers and dancers who operate predominantly outside and beyond traditional and/or institutional practice. It should provide space for guest performances by groups based in and beyond Stockholm and it should work for Nordic and international cooperation through, among other things, supporting these guest performances. It should work to profile and strengthen the position of the art of dance through an active and varied range of programming and, through this, should provide ongoing opportunities for new audiences to experience and take part in the art of modern dance.

§ 2

The Foundation has a Board of Trustees, hereinafter referred to as the Board, that are responsible for the Foundation's operations.

§ 3

The Board shall consist of a minimum of five and a maximum of nine persons who are appointed through a process initiated by the Board itself., and Thethe Board is self-regulatory.

§ 4

The Board appoints an Auditor as well as a Deputy for the Auditor.

§ 5

The Foundation's operating year runs from January 1 through to December 31.

§ 6

The Board must submit an Annual Report, including a balance sheet and income statement, no later than three months after the end of the financial year.

§ 7

The Foundation's accounts and financial management are reviewed by the Auditor, who must issue an Audit Report on the Foundation’s operations no later than four months after the end of the financial year.

§ 8

The Board must appoint a Manager (see § 9) and an Artistic Director and, on the proposal of the Artistic Director, members of an Artistic Council (see § 10).

§ 9

The Artistic Director shall, on the Board's delegation, be responsible for running MDT's daily and annual operations, including management of all staff, in accordance with the framework decided by the Board. They must also report back to the Board. The Manager must be co-opted to the Board and its Secretary as well as a member of the Artistic Council. The Manager is operationally responsible for the overall programme content of the Artistic Council.

§ 10

The Artistic Council shall consist of a maximum of seven members who are elected for a term of two years with the possibility of re-election. The Artistic Council is responsible for the content of MDT's annual programme in accordance with the Board's long-term framework. Decisions in the Artistic Council are made by simple majority; in the event of a tie, the Artistic Director has the casting vote.

§ 11

The Foundation's signature is signed by the Chairperson of the Board or two Board members jointly. The Board authorises the Artistic Director to sign the Board's company.

§ 12

The Foundation shall not be under the supervision of the County Administrative Board.
